We take you step by step from pre production sourcing of the model,costume & props,studio lighting and of course the photoshop tutorial which Includes making masks.

It covers everything involved in producing this shoot from start to finish warts and all we have left nothing out even when it all went pear shaped! please read on for a brief overview.........

We open this video explaining the idea & inspiration for creating this image and even throw in a brief history lesson.
You then follow us over several days trying to find a supplier for the relevant costumes and props we require and suitable spartan warrior.
With the costume sourced our next task was finding our Dienekes model and I explain how it's possible to find models when you have no funds available for payment.
We then show you the background elements we plan to use and do a mock up and I explain why it's beneficial to spend time doing so.

The shoot day arrives .....
True to life we have to deal with an unexpected problem on the morning of our studio shoot which there was no contingency plan for and cancel everything...all in a days work as a photographer !

The shoot day arrives... take 2!
We finally re arrange everything and move onto our studio location where I show you the studio lighting set up which we have to match to parts of our background image,show you our less than glamourous improvised wind machine (hey it worked !) and talk about the benefits of tethered capture.

The next 3 or 4 days (it's a hazy blurr) are spent by myself editing,retouching and bringing to life my previsualised creation in front of your screen.
Starting with creating our hi res background I show you many tricks to resolve problems and fine tune the image including making the moon glow and sea sparkle,we show how to masks in photoshop like smoke and fire (the easy way) plus correct the falling temple of Athena from 200BC !
We then move our attentions to Dienekes aka Chris ! and again I show you many tricks including extracting very fine hair details and masking them.
The list goes on.
It's a long video set in two parts but as I said it's the full pre to post production walkthrough of everything I needed to do to make this self indulged image in my mind come alive.
