On this workshop we visit three beautiful locations in Somerset and introduce you to several local characters. This weekend of digital photography training lets you explore portrait photography and simple lighting solutions on location, enabling you to refine your image capture skills without expensive lighting equipment.

Meet a Woodsman in the dense hillside Forest
Meet a family with stunning 70 yr old Gypsy caravans with their beautiful carvings complete with campsite and horses that will take you back in time.
Meet a farmer on his wonderful old farm complete with rustic tractors,sheds and ancient orchard.
You’ll meet and shoot them all using a variety of simple affordable but creative lighting setup’s and learn a wealth of tips for portrait shooting on location.
Workshop Outline
Overview:
I will broaden your knowledge & skills in the areas of location portraiture and simple lighting with camera strobes.
This is intended as an informal and fun weekend of learning with the bonus of meeting new people and experiencing wonderful locations.
Designed for:
Those who have an intermediate photography knowledge.
e.g basic knowledge of the workings of their camera, exposure, shutter
speed & F stops.
Benefits :
You will learn in a small group of like minded people by doing, watching and asking questions along the way.
The group is kept to a maximum of 10 people so personal attention can be given to everyone attending.
The weekend workshop is structured to be fun and informal, but as informative as possible.

You will be encouraged to shoot your own images of our models as much as possible .
You will be able to use our flashgun lighting set up & radio triggers where needed.

N.B Refreshments Will Be Available During This Session
Following This We To Go Onto A Local Pub For A Social Drink And You Can Also Order Food Here Should You Wish.
Saturday Morning 8.30am*
Minibus Pick Up From Travel Lodge Ilminster .
We Travel To Our First Location A Few Miles Away.
9.00-12.00Pm
Our First Shoot Is Of Farrier Jamie Darlington & His Campsite Complete With Horses & Beautiful Old Gypsy Caravans.
12.30-1.30Pm
We retreat for lunch at one of the many old village country pubs.
2.30Pm-5.30Pm
We head for the hills to shoot our rustic & charasmatic woodsman Gill Merrick.
5.30Pm
We head back to our Monks Yard base for a coffee or to the hotel if you prefer.
Evening
This would have been a long day so after resting up you may choose
to meet up with everyone else (myself possibly included) for an evening meal or do your own thing,we tend to play this by ear.
Sunday 8.00 am
* Minibus Pick Up From Travel Lodge Ilminster . We Travel To Our Third And Final Location.
9.00-1.00am
We arrive at the ancient village of Montacute where we will meet the very friendly rural character Ron Marsh & possibly other local characters.
Here we will be testing our lighting skills to create an image in a wonderful (but dark) old farm building complete with historic farm machinery that oozes rustic charm.
We also (depending on time & group size) hope to run another set up here at one of the farms other wonderful backdrops.

Equipment Needed
- Camera,Lenses (Approx 24-70mm as a minimum,70-200mm also be beneficial),
- Flashgun,
- Tripod,
- Cf Cards.
If in doubt bring it!
Equipment That Might Be Useful But Not Imperative:
- CF Card Reader (for Offloading cards) ,
- Laptop or Storage Device,
- Camera Manual ,
- Cable Release,
- Radio Triggers,Reflector (if you own any of these)
Other Items Advised :
- Wellies Or Waterproof Boots (it can get a bit muddy if it rains)
- Waterproof & Warm Clothing, Umbrella (in case it rains)
- Sense Of Humour (So I’m Told!)
Price
The Worshop costs £255.00 per person. This fee covers training,transport & some refreshments.
Early Booking Discount, First 6 bookings we receive will be available with a £56.00 discount per person bringing the price down to just £199.00 (Normal Price £255.00 Per Person)

Cancellations
If you wish to cancel you must notify me by email at
simon@prophotoinsights.net 30 days before the workshop commences.
If cancellation is less than 30 days before the course commences the following charges will be made:
• Less than 30 days 50% of fee
• Less than 7 working days full fee.
Please Note If Your Place Is Filled After Cancellation We Will Be Happy To Refund 100% Of Your Fee

1, Payment in full is required of £255.00 (£215.00 with early booking discount) A confirmation will be emailed to you which form a contract between you and Simon Plant of ProPhotoInsights.
2, It may be necessary for reasons beyond my control (e.g averse weather) to change the content or timing of a workshop or even cancel it altogether.In the event of cancellation a full refund will be made but hereby disclaim any further liability.
3, ProPhotoInsights does not accept responsibility or liability for death, bodily injury or illness caused to the client or any other person included on the booking form, unless proven to arise from negligence on the part of the Company. Any claims shall, be subject to English law in respect of any question of liability or quantum, and all proceedings shall be within the exclusive domain of the English courts.
4, ProphotoInsights carries 5 Million Pounds Public Liability Insurance for our own cover.
We advise all photographers to check that they are personally covered on location by Public Liability Insurance which is often found on your House/Contents Insurance.
We accept no liability if you have an accident or cause one to others while attending this workshop.
5, The client must communicate any perceived failure of the course or workshop to
ProPhotoInsights while on the course, thus giving us the opportunity of achieving a satisfactory solution.
Should this not be possible for any reason, your complaint must be made in writing to us within 28 days after the finish date of the course.
6, By signing the booking form, you are agreeing to accept all of these Terms and Conditions.
